Summary
Retrofit Office Conversion
Location
Bristol
Concept
A converted Victorian warehouse that now offers 5670 Sq Ft of boutique workspace in the centre of Bristol.
In 2021 we were approached by Create Real Estate to prepare option appraisals for the conversion of a Victorian warehouse into office space or residential apartments. Our design strategy was to make sensitive interventions that improve the function of the building and accentuate its historic character.
The design included the upgrading of the service and circulation core, a new entrance lobby and new communal facilities; including lockers, showers and bicycle parking.
Existing suspended ceilings were removed to expose stunning A-frame trusses at roof level. Large arch-headed window openings, generous floor-to-ceiling heights and exposed brick piers emphasize the historic character of the building. LED lighting, exposed fan-coil units and solar PV contribute to a modern and sustainable retrofit office design.
The building overlooks St Mary Redcliffe Church and is a short walk from Bristol’s historic floating harbour.
We have extensive experience in commercial architecture on both new-build offices, refurbished offices and retrofit office conversion. Our Directors also worked for award-winning international practice Rolfe Judd Architects Ltd delivering high-quality office space in the City of London.
