Concept
In 2020 we were asked by renowned brewery and pub operator Wadworth, to refresh a popular pub on the outskirts of Chippenham. The venue comprises a carvery, dining facilities, sports bar and lounge, all located within a late Georgian Inn.
To attract a broader customer base the client wanted us to transform the traditional space into a modern lounge and bar interior design, We responded by reorganising the existing layout to improve circulation and to articulate the unique character of the 3 distinct spaces; bar, lounge and snug. We chose a colour scheme, decor, fixtures and fittings that reflects Wadworth’s brand identify and heritage, with a modern twist. Upholstery and wall colours were chosen to match the plumage of a Pheasant, so we could link the interior design to the name of the pub.
The lounge serves as a sports bar, with wall mounted TV on several walls. Our design reduces the visual clutter, replacing several small TVs with 2 large ‘picture frame’ screens integrated with feature walls that display carefully curated, venue specific, artwork.
The back bar design includes an antiqued mirror wall with concealed lighting to create a focal point. We also added new hearth and custom fire surround to create a comfy-domestic feel to the lounge area. The bar frontage is reclad in timber fluting to echo classical architectural details.
We designed the snug as a discreet, more intimate space for private parties and events. A dark blue/green ceiling and matching walls were chosen to contrast with other rooms to create a unique space with a more dramatic ambience. The wall mounted TV was removed, and bare walls were replaced with bespoke Georgian panelling and banquet seating.
