Concept
In 2019 we were appointed as the architects and interior designers for a new hospitality venue and hotel in London’s Canary Wharf.
The project involved the conversion of Squire and Partners’ 239m Landmark Pinnacle in London’s Canary Wharf to create a new hotel. The building, which is one of the UK’s tallest residential towers was designed to contain 752 flats. Our hotel design adapted the lower floors to create a vibrant entrance foyer, reception, bar and restaurant with luxury rooms to the upper floors. The client’s aspiration was to create a ‘cool’ yet ‘formal’ environment inspired by modernist designers such as Ray and Charles Eames, Florence Knoll and Hans Wegner.
3D visualisation software and virtual reality presentations were used throughout the design process to demonstrate the impact interior design proposals had on the character and ambience of key spaces. It also gave the client the closest possible representation of the final product before designs were signed-off. The 3D visualisations were included in the tender documentation to clarify the quality requirements.
The scheme was part of long-standing relationship we have with Bristol-based hospitality specialists Portland Brown. This has included the extension and refurbishment of their head office, proposals for a new co-working venue in central Bristol, and an exciting multi-use leisure venue. On each project we work closely with their in-house team of hospitality specialists to develop designs that align with their ethos and branding.
