Concept
Located in the centre of ‘Ipswich Central Conservation Area’ Maple Court provides high-quality residential accommodation at the heart of the town centre. The building replaces a tired 4-storey 1980s office block, and significantly improves the quality of the street scape.
To minimise its environmental impact the design retains the existing concrete office structure, including the stair core and lift shaft. A new brick façade is suspended from the frame to create a modern and elegant street frontage.
The proposals successfully compliment adjacent buildings with classical proportions and intricate brick detailing. Classical cornices, friezes and coursed ashlar stonework found on neighbouring properties are subtly referenced with relief in the brickwork. The proposals create 15 self-contained 2 bedroom residential apartments with access to car and cycle parking at basement level.
Smith Maloney Architects Ltd enjoy creating finely detailed brick facades. Further details of the façade design can be found by clicking <here>. Please also refer to our completed brick clad residential development in Brentwood.
Smith Maloney Architects Ltd were also appointed to undertake the interior design. For examples of the flat interior click <here>.
