Summary
Grade 2 listed Golf Clubhouse design
Location
Enfield, London
Concept
Smith Maloney Architects Limited have a long running relationship with Hadley Wood Golf Club (Enfield), one of the UKs most prestigious courses. The site has 192 acres of beautifully maintained landscape, overlooked by a stunning grade 2 listed clubhouse, previously a Georgian manor.
Following a post-covid review of the club’s offering we were asked to prepare designs for a new external terrace. We designed the terrace to maximise views across the golf course and for ease of access by catering staff and club members. The layout acknowledges the Palladian references of the Georgian clubhouse design with access steps located centrally.
We worked closely with the local authority heritage team and the client to balance conservation goals with client aspirations. We received the full support of Enfield Council in 2023, after a 2 year consultation period. The new clubhouse design, with terrace, provide potential new income streams for the club.
Work is to commence on site in 2024.
