Cheltenham Oncology

Summary
Oncology Centre (incorporating Linac and Endoscopy)

Location
Cheltenham

Concept
A bold extension to the existing hospital. The existing hospital had developed piecemeal over the preceding 30 years and lacked a clearly defined edge at its boundary to the adjacent Grade 2 listed Sandford Park Lido. The design philosophy was to create break the mass of the building into discrete blocks, each expressed through a different choice of materials and colour.
Facilities included a radiotherapy treatment facility with state of the art linear accelerators, endoscopy and a day recovery unit.
